Wheel'ly Felt Report

Accessibility bridges the gap between limited independence, and the ability to live the best life possible.

The Wheel'ly Felt Reporting web app was created for users to share with others, their unfiltered reaction to favorable and unfavorable consumer accessibility interactions while:

Accessibility and usability are key factors for people living with a disability to remain as independent as possible

When these factors are inadequate, the disabled consumer is negatively impacted. For a business, the affect could result in dissatisfied customers and less sells.

  • Visiting public locations such as stores, malls, offices, stadiums, restaurants, etc.

  • Using services provided or requested.

  • Purchasing or renting amenities, products, and travel accommodations.

  • Interacting with potential or current employers.

Accessibility and usability interactions with people, places, and things occur on a consistent basis. These interactions can leave an impacting positive or negative emotional reaction. The interaction could greatly impact a consumer's ability and desire to spend their money.

To learn more about this market of consumers and their purchasing decisions, I have developed a creative consumer reporting web app (Wheel'ly Felt) that provides a central location for consumers to share accessibility incidents, their reactions, and how the reaction impacted their decision to move forward with purchasing the goods or services.

I have come to the realization that a blue handicap sticker adhered to a merchant's entrance door means very little. Especially if a disabled patron must face accessibility issues when attempting to purchase their goods or services.

The thing is, how many other consumers feel the same way about a specific accessibility interaction? You know, that popular store you like to shop at, but there is not enough handicap parking. Everyday a shopper could be whispering that same complaint under their breath. Unfortunately, no one will ever know unless there is an outlet to record and share each experience. Influencing the need for improvement is only as strong as the voices behind it.

Wheel'ly Felt reporting web app was created specifically for people with disabilitiess/handicap (temporarily and permanently), and those who love them and/or care for their needs. By sharing their perspectives, others will gain better insight and clarity as to how to improve accessibility and usability for disabled consumers and supportive caregivers.
